A rising darkness threatens the lands of Tal Ania. It is an evil bidden by one who would transcend unto the heavens and subjugate the planet to his own selfish whim. His name is Kraevyn, and with his learned knowledge of the Five Powers of the Firmament, of the ability to summon the cosmic god Koth, and the dark sorcerer journeys to raise the fabled Black Tower, an ancient legend of a cosmic portent that hails from Koth's domain. The legends tell of a piece of Black Heaven that fell onto the planet, and it is with this relic of purest obsidian that Kraevyn will ascend to the firmament and claim godhood.
But there are five warriors who dare to stop him. Morally grey in their character, and each with their own motives, yet they traveled together, and fought to overthrow the evil Kraevyn before he could bring ruin to the planet.
This is their story.

Nearly twenty years ago, after the release of the self-titled debut, Throne of Anguish, the next epic from the band was composed. During the writing and recording of Throne of Anguish, and afterward, the members and other friends shared a passion for role playing games - specifically Dungeons & Dragons. For nearly two years, surprisingly with very few cancellations, they would gather every weekend and weave stories of myth and legend - of epic battles and fantastic magicks. These tales eventually, but the memories were (and still are) priceless, and as an homage to that wonderful time of youthful joy, the entire album was written and composed by Thygjaård. Unbeknownst to him, this would shape nearly his entire creative future, and he would realize that he had the capability to craft entire albums on his own... but that is another story for another time.
This is an homage to friendship; a musical snapshot of immeasurable emotions of a time, a place, and a group of friends who had their entire world ahead of them. One day, they all met together for the final time, but this stands eternal, a reminder of the adventures and laughter they shared.

PRODUCTION NOTES:
"The Cycle of Koth" was recorded on a BOSS BR-8, using 100mb zip disks. The drums were a custom Ludwig 7 piece using a Nady 4 pack of drum mics, but one of them did not work, therefore, only 3 mics were used. The guitar was a BC Rich Warlock, the keyboard was a Yamaha YT10 (I think... it has been a long time), using the headphone jack as an output. There are mistakes, there are slips, and there are imperfections - and yet, the music is true. NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN'T DO.

I met Fogweaver through Vedurnan and, later, Magelight. This more energetic take on their music is wonderful and exciting, a compelling twist bearing their unique signature. emanuele127
