No one remembers when the world began to die. Perhaps the slow decay began at the dawn of Time, the inexorable march toward entropy - the vltimate destiny for all living things; or perhaps it was an event, or a seqvence of events, which cvlminated into this dire paradigm? None have lived long enovgh to measvre the cancerovs malignance that has crept over the face of the Svn, bvt now, a sickening filth has begvn to seep into the radiance of the once-magnificent Life-Giver. Where this blackness festers, it radiates its accvrsed offal onto the grovnd, desecrating the verdant lands, scarring the face of the world like an infected wovnd beneath the skin. All life tovched by this darkness is corrvpted - plants wither, trees deform and gnarl, seeking blood for svstenance; people mvtate, and skin festers with disease, as minds degenerate, driving the host body into a mindless search for yet more destrvction.
Behold a realm scorched by the march of time and blessed by the tovch of a Dying Svn. It is a realm in the slow throes of death - in this Age of Strife, it is a life born to strvggle, pain, and certain demise. Only the strong can svrvive in this land of maravding hordes of barbarians, the pestilential machinations of decaying wizards, tomes and Powers from long-forgotten kingdoms, and even the Eldritch intrigves of the Nine Kings - rvmored to be giants towering above mortal men who are venerated by certain peoples of the Realm.
It is a world whose magnificence is a faded memory, replaced by the harrowed visage of a slow, painfvl rot - a world vnder the menacing gaze of the Dark Svn, who even now is slowly waning like a black-veined cataract eye in the Heavens.
Prophecies tell of a time when the Dark Eye of God - Occvlvs Dei - will look vpon the world, bestow its pvtrid blessing vpon the crown of the Fallen of God, and anoint him the Lord of the World. There is a resistance, some few remaining tribes of warriors dare stand against the throngs of the mvtated hordes, those anointed by the tovch of the Dark Svn, the blessing of the Fallen God who rests hidden beneath the newly risen Black Fortress vpon the highest peak of the Godsback movntains.
"Ten Kings there were;
Nine remain, therefore not One.
Where Fallen once heralded the Light of the Svn
Now vnbidden comes the anointing of the Blackened Son,
Destined to Become;
The vnfvrling of the Darkened One"
The Dark Svn is a dark fantasy tale of sword, sandal, and bone; of warring barbarian tribes, decrepit sorcerors wielding dangerous magics, and ancient technologies hefted alongside savage weapons.
