It is a time of warfare; of battles fierce. Kingdoms driven by the furor for power and greed argue and ally amongst themselves. Mercenary bands join the fray to heap coin and glory upon their names, and the lands are bathed in the hymns of bloodlust, battle, and lamentation.

It is a season of conflict - of cold steel and the incalculable powers of forbidden blood magicks. Forces adorned in plate and scale march to the cadence of warfare; horns of mighty, fearsome beasts adorning their helmets and regalia, and iridescent halos of ancient magicks trace majestic arcs of impossible power across the sky.

On the battlefield, any price will be paid to ensure victory - betrayal and allegiance - even to darker forces, who would seek to rend the world in twain, and ultimately bathe humanity in Corruption.

And yet there is more... for They have begun to emerge. Creatures of odious legend:

The Riven

Rumors abound of the gnawing evil that corrupts mankind, and yet there are those who would worship such foulness, and adorned with fetish, flagellant, and savage weapon, the Cult of the Riven marches to the field of battle, as well.

Standards of the Southweald are raised to honor their forebears, while armies gather in the western river towns to honor their maimed queen who rides vanguard, borne astride the backs of her adoring subjects.

This is a world for warriors, a realm for the glory of battle; these are lands of ancient enchantments, foul magicks forgotten to time - and it is also time for heroes. Legends speak of one hero who may yet halt the spread of the Riven, and that secret is said to lay in the heart of the hidden Temple of Eternities...

So begins the Chronicles of Valen.
